Honestly, I have not been burned by any of the gurus. I have purchased a number of products. Some have been better than others.
All of the products I have purchased have helped me down the path.
In some of my niches (for example see Pizza Therapy), I have been very successful.
My struggle has been to expand to other niches.
I am interested in anything you have to say.

I am here and ready to follow. I have been spinning my wheels trying to figure out how to even start and am so confused as to how to really get it rolling. All the programs and all the offers make it even harder to make decisions – it’s like I am being pulled in every direction with no clear focus. I need your help and I think what you are doing is great, because the small guy needs a chance to grow as well. All these Gurus with millions in the bank keep throwing out more products and promoting everyone elses products and raking more profits, while the little guy keeps stumbling and getting further in debt. It truely is amazing how much I get marketed by the big guys. I mean, shit, don’t you make enough already???? Why do you need to send me three emails a day? I need your help Alex. Put me in the right direction and show me finally how to make a living online.

I have known you since you started and if we had followed you instead of being all over the damn internet we would be making a steady income right now. There are many self proclaimed gurus. They are selling in a lot of cases useless information, or just parts of the puzzle. A true guru would show the roadmap from start to finish.

I am a disabled person and I have no other way to earn income other than the Internet. I was in your first coaching class. I did everything you said build a blog but never got the increased traffic you said. I am confused as to what I failed to learn to be successful. I want to continue to trust you but how do I turn things around? Please tell me the secret what have I missed? The biggest factor is finding a coach you can trust. It appears that if you pay a guru $5-10K for coaching like you did you will succeed. Alex for me that is not an option.

I really appreciate your honesty and integrity. I read your other two books, and they are “right on”. I’ve bought lots of stuff online from various gurus, and some has been pretty good. My biggest issue is info overload, and not getting focused enough.

There is one major “guru’s nightmare” in my life, going on right now. Even though I read your 2 previous books, and would gladly have paid YOU up to $1,000 for coaching, I got approached by a total crook (claiming to be a marketer I respected and trusted) who somehow mesmerized me into parting with thousands of bucks. The so-called coaching has some value, but has not produced any of my money back yet. Instead, I’m in desperate financial circumstances… and so are a number of my friends who were also duped by this so-called mentor.

So, yes, I am living a Guru’s Nightmare right now! You are a breath of fresh air, Alex. I hope I have time to participate in your coaching, as I now need to be working a couple of jobs to make ends meet.

Hi Alex

God where were you in January, I spent $1200 dollars on a gurus reputation and was promised 4 fully built blog sites, this was paid with money that I needed to pay my company taxes, but it was alright. The guru promised the sites in a week and of course I should be making money pretty soon after that. Well its now a month later, no sign of the sites and I have 2 weeks to find the money for my company taxes, thanks guru.

Oh yeah just to make matters worse I lost my job mid January, so after trialling lots of courses written by lots of someones, I was tired and pretty much physically sick of being stressed with the money always going outwards.

However the good news somewhere on one of your sites I found a reference to Glen Hopkins and I thought what the hell, I cannot pay my bills so I may as well splash the cash in one last effort and see what happens. He has been a revelation and actually provides some fantastic teaching, I have achieved more in 3 days than I have in 4 years. This is no exaggeration, I was really shocked when I looked at the copyright statement on my first site and realised, that I had been drifting for 4 years.

So Alex yes I totally agree, up your bum gurus with your false promises I want the action not the reputation.

Then try to sell me a $1,400 course, about which I said ‘I would GLADLY PAY $30,000 from the increase in my earnings over the next year, by applying YOUR teachings, Phone-Sales-Team, as I did when I paid $30,000 for the ONE WEEK TRAINING that transformed my minus-$1,000/month clinical practice into $13,000 a month in less than 5 months…”

Uh, no. No credit card? No cash? We don’t have enough FAITH in our own product-courses to enter into a relationship like that. Sorry. -clik!-

Hello Alex,

I have a very short list of marketers I trust enough to deal with. I like your attitude and I like where you’re coming from and look forward to your offerings.

Over the years, I have come to the conclusion that there are many so called “Gurus”. Most are just out to get your money and fail to deliver on their promises or fail to provide a total solution.

Time and time again, I make an initial purchase only to find there is an upsell or several to get the complete package which I thought I was buying in the first place! This cannot be honest marketing. When this happens, I then treat the “Guru” as SPAM and Junk and never deal with them again.

Another thing I often notice is a “Guru” running a major marketing campaign for their new product launch and at the same time promoting another “Gurus” product aimed at their market whilst promoting it like it’s the best product around as if there is no conflict of interest.

I would like to see a registry where anyone selling something signs up to an honest marketing pledge of trust so the seller is totally open about what they are selling and buyer knows exactly what sort of deal they are getting.

Anyway, you did say you wanted some comments about “Gurus” and there’s much more where that came from!

I have invested in SiteBuilderElite but find that it is so outdated and unwieldy! I was sold on the hype to build hundreds and thousands of websites in a flash (a promise it delivers on brilliantly!) only to discover there is such a thing as getting traffic and offering quality content, one of Google’s prime requirements!

I have just invested in a some tutoring (video) courses and was working on that when one of my mail subscriptions delivered your link.

I agree with you about the gurus (not everyone), but I also realize that newbies are always hungry to consume new information products, the latest fads. I’ve been victim, too, for too long time. The gurus are exploiting that to their best capabilities.

They’ve even educated the newbies so far as to expect a new product every now and then.

I’m really interested in what you see the one thing that stops newbies to make money because I see several reasons like mindset, information overload, not knowing whom to trust, lack of focus etc.

I’ve gone into many niches and make a regular income now, but it was a very hard struggle and I’m still not where I want to be. Count me in for your coaching.

Some “gurus” are just salesman with good copyrighting full of hype and no value to the people that they are selling to. I’ve learned from all but not made any money. I’m now going through bankruptcy because my education has been expensive but hasn’t bore any fruit. I refuse to give up, I will succeed and then I will teach what I know, without the hype, to others so they won’t have to depend on someone else for their sustenance. I have sent theses”gurus” emails that were my personal painfull story .I have made an honest hardworking income for my wife and for kids for 8 yrs. before i got hit at 80mph by a semi on the freeway with a preg. wife and my 2 babies long story short we lived PRAISE GOD!!!! Hey Alex, I love the Godfather reference title. You asked so here goes:

A little over a year ago I put together all of the money I could. I quit my job thinking I had about a year to learn all I could a find a way to make a living on the Internet. The gurus found me first. They are good at what they do and they are very aggressive. I went for the hype. I made every classic mistake. I mean, what the hell did I know about Internet Marketing?

I have had one business after the other. I never made millions but always managed to make a living with them. My first business was when I was thirteen years old. I made a good amount of money but more importantly I learned to solve problems on the run. Every business I had I learned from someone who had a successful business in the same niche. I found them to be generous with their time and their knowledge. In return, I would throw them the accounts that were simply too large for me to handle.

It is in my nature to repay someone who has been kind and generous to me. In fact to this day, if I hear of someone who needs something from my old business, I turn the people on to my friends who mentored me. But this business has been extremely hard to crack. First one must learn a completely different language before you can begin. But sadly, I have found the people in this industry to be so mercenary that I was not prepared for this.

I have always believed that all ships rise with the tide! But that is not the nature of this business. Someone suggested that I get a mentor. I must have asked the wrong people because they wanted obscene amounts of money. Thousands!!This is a true fact: I asked someone about mentoring. I received an e-mail back with his terms: I want fifty thousand dollars up front and fifteen percent of the gross for the first year! I will allow the initial payment of the fifty thousand dollars to be paid in two payments 30 days apart. Boy, was this guy barking up the wrong tree. But Alex all was not lost. I did have movement in the first year: I went from a steak period, to a hot dog period, and I am presently firmly ensconced in the oatmeal period. I do have several highlights in my life.

On Sundays I put some can fruit on top of my oatmeal. My main drawback is that I must keep my heat on fifty degrees in order to be able to afford the oatmeal. My problem has been that my hands would become so cold that I was forced to buy a hand warmer to maintain the ability to type. In fact, I have become so adept at living cheaply, that I have been thinking about writing an e-book on the subject “How To Live On A Wino’s Salary,Without having To Drink That Awlful Wine” Of course this is just the working title.

My character building life experience is all thanks to the rather large donations I have made to the gurus. I guess it is my own fault. I must lack the intelligence to be able to make their software and programs work with the same efficiency that they were able to. After all, some of these programs had made the gurus a million dollars a day! I lacked their skill and ability to make it work. The worse so far? My dog felt the cold winter air in the house, he looked in the food bowl, sniffed, turned around, looked me right in the eye, and walked out the door and never came back. I think he is living over at the neighbor’s house! He has a regular job. The plus side? I no longer have any bugs in the house, they have all froze to death.

I used to get a field mouse that would come in the house every winter and drive me crazy! He has moved in with my dog over at the neighbors house. Thanks Alex, I was becoming so depressed, and the two snow storms back to back didn’t help. Three feet of snow gives you cabin fever. I was thinking about hanging myself, but do you know what the cost of rope is?? I tried to hold my breath to death but I only fell down and hit my head on the floor. And then I opened your e-mail! It really raised my spirits because I have been following your experience on line. Your story is inspiring to us lowly Undernet Marketers. Thanks Alex,I watched you go into the trenches and get drunk and corousel with those dangerous gurus. All the while, watching, listening and gathering Intel on them. They didn’t know what hit them! And now you are sharing the intel with us underneters.

Honestly, I don’t blame the gurus for my limited success online. I blame myself for lack of action. I have spent of ton of money on training that just sits on my hard drive. To tell the truth I have forgotten that I even purchased most of it.

The success that I have found is directly related to two people. You and Michael Cheney. Thank god for you two or I would still be headed in the totally wrong direction.

I find it interesting that the Internet is so rapidly changing and evolving. Things that worked just 6 months ago are not working nearly as well today. The credit card companies, the FTC, the IRS and Google have all impacted the industry recently. I believe it is a time of great change and great opportunity.

A time for many including myself to get back to the basics that you teach so well and build a good solid online business.

I am looking forward to your new book and to the success that it will bring to both of us.

I have been on my online marketing journey for about 17 months now and am still to make a life changing amount of money. But I still have the passion. I started to concentrate on building one particular part of my business at the turn of the New Year and have seen exponential growth since then.
I absolutely love your ballsy, give it to em straight way of marketing. Over the past 17 months I have spent thousands of £s with “gurus”. Now I am not saying that the systems and products I bought were rubbish. BUT what I will say is that the complete lack of interest or help after the sale has been scandalous!

I purged my inbox over Christmas and now only continue to subscribe to people who give good useful content with some offers mixed in (we’ve all got bills to pay after all!!). As a result I have found that I have virtually no gurus left in my inbox!! What does that tell you?

And while I am on a rant!! What is with all this “I am going into retirement!” crap that so many of the big names are spouting. Is the recession hitting them and they need to make a few quid from their regurgitated products?!!

Thanks Alex for being upstanding, honest, and a bloody good marketer who cares for his followers. I for one will not be unsubscribing in a hurry.

Hi Alex. I must say I like what I’m hearing. I think the mean reasons for the most of us not managing to get started are:

1. fear of getting burned (having picked the wrong way to go – out of all those many possibilities offered by all those gurus out there);

2. not daring to put aside and spend those hundreds of dollars often needed to get in to one of the more expensive programs that offer a more long-term form of one-on-one coaching;

3. not knowing beforehand how much time needs to be put aside daily to build an online business from scratch the right way (rightly organised way);

4. identifying or learning to identify one or more niches that will fit you like a glove based on your personality and personal interests.

To put it all together: we want to be SURE that either time or money spent on education will be well-spent.

I can only echo most all of the frustrations that everyone has experienced here. At some point I have tried most everything, maybe not as hard as I should – blame me there, but it seems as though no one wants to show a complete process for building a business, without a huge investment.

And before I go one word further, let me please clarify that VERY FEW OF THEM WERE SCAMS, I am not saying that, but they weren’t quite what they were sold to be, or just weren’t what I needed at the time. With the proper knowledge and finances, I am certain I could have eventually made any of them work. So I am not gonna accuse reputable marketers of being “SCAMMERS’, just not always fully disclosing. Ok, that’s clear now.

Anyway-

I too have been on numerous GURU’S lists, only to get the same thing. CUT-n-PASTE JV Emails!

I mean, gimme a break. They are supposedly the best. At least have the decency to re-word the stinking e-mail before sending it.

That just proves to me that they have very little interest in my success. Not all, but most.

Now, before I go on too much, let me say I DO REALIZE that this IS A BUSINESS, and everyone – bar none – is here to make money. It’s not for our health or entertainment. We didn’t choose internet marketing because we were so bored we had nothing else to do.

However, I am afraid that too many of them have forgotten where they came from. Just this week I have heard repeatedly of the heartbreaking story of one such marketer, and can honestly say this is true for many of us alike. Been there, done that.

Some, granted, were born with the proverbial “silver spoon” in their mouth, but not most. Yet wealth seems to erase all of the memories of those hard times and forgetfulness sets in.

It then becomes a dog-eat-dog race to the finish, and the boy with the most “GREEN” toys wins.

Not so here. I believe that actions speak louder than words, and I HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR, Alex.

And I thank you for caring. I have watched your progress for some time now, and am forever seeing SOMEONE refer to you as their mentor, and what a change you have made in their life. I truly hope that this would be my legacy as I progress. I actually have ideas right now for a coaching program that I want to implement AFTER I AM READY TO TEACH OTHERS. And it WILL benefit the little guy.

But, I too still have to get over the shock and awe I have suffered especially this last year from all of the hype.

I get too many e-mails that say “Stop What You Are Doing And I Will Show You How To Succeed”, and they proceed to do just that – by sending me a 45 minute video that supposedly is the secret, only to find out after I can’t fast-forward or rewind that it is JUST ANOTHER SALES VIDEO for a $497 be-all end-all product that I DO NOT NEED! And TIME WASTED! Just be upfront. Is it content, or a sales pitch? I don’t care just tell me!

Anyway, enough ranting from me.

Alex, PLEASE HELP US GET STARTED. I don’t want it ALL DONE FOR ME, just help me do it for myself. I will not bury my head in the sand and give up. I have a family that needs my help, and I will give it, one way or another. I would just like for it to be sooner than later.

The guru’s sound desperate..new gimmicks,new rehashed garbage, selling their business to you…this is f****g ridiculous.. I am unemployed now for 3 months and have spent money I didn’t really have on BS after BS on these crappy products..only to find an up sell that promises to give me the real good stuff..the good stuff never delivers anything but another up sell to more of the same bull shit.
I am sick at my stomach and very disillusioned. I hope you can get me over my cynicism Alex because I am usually a very positive and up beat person .

There is no such thing as The Magic Bullet. I had to learn this the hard way by being taken by the guru’s. I am ready to give um the same medicine they give 1000′ of other struggling people out there.

Sounds interesting…the only (very small!) successes I’ve ever had online have come from doing the opposite of whatever is the trend at the time, so gurus don’t do it for me anyway.

But it seems to me that because different people have diffrent skills, interests, experiences etc, what works for one person may not work in the same way for the next. (Eg the numerate people I knowlike Adwords or SEO, whilst the word-based people prefer writing articles and blogs).

So it’ll be really interesting to see whether your info is generic or personalised.

Anyway, sounds great so far, and thanks for putting this up.

BTW, I haven’t read your earlier reports-are they available somewhere?

Iget emails from some of the ones that commented above. I haven’t spent a lot on the offers for products because when you are on Social Security there is nothing left each month to buy.

I have the List Building With Alex and Newbies Nightmare. Ithink you said the Gurus Dream came out in 08. That was before I new about you.

The Gurus Nightmare sounds great and the free coaching is what I can afford. I have been trying to figure this mess out for over a year. M majoproblem is focus. I have overload myself by subscribing to too many list and if I dont gothrow them every day it takes longer to get them all taken care of.

Because I havent cleared this address in over a week I had a lot to look at. I dont read them all any more. When I came here to watch the video I has it down to 760. it is now back up to 771

This new adswap thing they have going now has gotten a lot of them deleted. Most of then I get emails from both of them anyway.

I am very interested in the coaching. I got an email the other day offering me coaching for two weeks for $1997. That is $897 more than I get for the whole month. Will probably get an email telling me they are disapointed because I didn’t order the training.

There are two or three others I get emails from that has talked about free training like you.
I am happy about this because so many of us do not know where to start and do not have the funds to pay the high prices and as on here some have said they paid the price and are no better off.

Think I remember that a couple said they took your training and it worked.

Thank you for offering to help us and will be waiting for your next email. Have been thinking about creating another address and transfering you and the few others that like you are willing to really help us. There were some in the comments that didn’t seem to really beleive you. I am not one of them.

I am one of your students, paid you $997 for your coaching course, and it is the only one I don’t regret paying for, because you gave me hope when I was down and discouraged. I did get started, somewhat–I did what you said, put up a blog, wrote an ebook, and other things which I hadn’t been able to do until then, but I’m not quite sure what I missed.
I’m an older widow and working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs to make ends meet–haven’t made a dime online yet, and still in a LOT of debt.
Most guru’s want $5,000 to 10,000 for coaching, for which I’m sure there is no guarantee of making money, so that’s out of the question.
I’m been feeling a bit desperate lately, and here you are–to the rescue again! I just need enough right now to quit at least ONE job, and put that time in to building a business, and go from there.
As many have said before me, no-one gives us the whole picture, unless we have many thousands of dollars for them. Yet they say there’s enough for all, and they’re not afraid of competition. Then why not give us ALL the information we need to get started and actually make MONEY?

By the way,my experience with some gurus have been pleasant while with others it’s not so.The major issue for me is information overload-too much stuffs at a time and these are simple enough(talking about the style of writing).
I remember also buying a software from a guru(well known) that requires a code to activate by mailing him.
he never replied one day and there was no help Clickbank could render beyond giving me his website address to visit.
I couldn’t use the software till date(that was in 2004/2005.

If this is truly no B.S., then I want to talk to you. So, here it goes:

At the end of the day my secondary newbie nightmare is that since I am poor, and I know, that if you think you’re poor you’ll remain poor…yet, my reality is that I don’t even have enough money, in the month, to buy groceries not to mention paying for these programs that tell me that they have the ‘”Only” Step by Step’ program on how to be successful on line.

However, even if I did have the money, my primary stumbling block is that it seems to be assumed by the so called ‘Gurus’ that the rest of us have a) marketing skills and knowledge, b) know how to write articles using the correctly positioned keywords, c)understand the multiple variations in advertising schemes, d) grasp the concept of not only having a website but the need to create splash pages ect and how to go about doing that, e) getting down to what exactly is the ultimate “Code” that the gurus use…f) and by the way, how do I know that so and so is really a guru…what qualifies them to be called such, g) and my favourite are their use of the words [ Instant success, In minutes you can make money ], h) Just do This…but they never tell you not only ‘What’ THIS is nor do they tell you where to find it nor how to do it.

Further, Alex, even though I understand the need and value of pointing out the so called ‘Benefits” of a program, why is it not necessary to at least mention what ones needs to know before beginning that program…its liken to telling someone who desires to become a physician that being a surgeon has the best benefits of any of the divisions of medicine but forgetting to inform the potential new doctor that s/he will have to see blood and gore in order to reap those benefits….don’t you think that that info may be slightly significant in the potential new doctors decision making arena? I mean, maybe s/he faints at the sight of blood!!!!!! How on earth would that benefit the patient lying on the operating table????

Alex, at the end of the day, after four or five years of buying (when I can afford to) program after program, I’m finally learning, at least, the lingo.

It is not necessary for you to know why I live on a disability, at this time, but I just want to let you know that my greatest goal, for the time being, is to move off disability and become an independent successful woman. I thought I was going to be able to do this through the Internet, but because of my disability income I am prohibited from paying for coaching from people like you.

Alex, does this mean that there is NO future for me to get off disability and become that successful woman via the Internet?

Information overload is a real problem for me.
Just when you think you’re getting somewhere another big launch/JV comes out and you get the feeling that you’ll be left behind if you don’t get on board.
Often tempted to unsubscribe from ALL the lists and start again from scratch following just one system/outlook/philosophy. Problem is the free stuff that is given away is genuinely useful yet time-consuming and distracting and always comes with an upsell for the missing (secret) pieces of the jigsaw. Free stuff for the sake of education without ANY upsell..how refreshing would that be?
I think most folk just want to get off on the right track and build up at their own pace without all the noise and distraction.

My pet peeve with the Gurus is soon after I have purchased the worlds best newly revealed never before made public system from them I start getting email from the same Guru passing on to me a new secret their friend has been using to make $27,154.21 in the last 15 1/2 days. Give me a break!
I sometimes get 2 emails a day from the same person I just spent $497.00 with. Talk about a hugh up sale.
I feel better now.
I am still struggling to consistently to go over $1000.00 per month.

I have just recently started to follow you and study your free products and reports, which are really awesome and full of great content.

I love your way of straight talking and it certainly hits the nail for many of us wannabe marketers and newbees out there when you slap the gurus for their constant hype and never ending ceremony of launch after launch. Duh! I´m sick of that too – and find it so hard to turn that noise of…

Now, I really do mean all the words of praise I write about you and your teachings here, but I am nevertheless not blind and have to consider that there is hype in your marketing as well (which is no wonder, as you have learned from Mike Filsaime, who is a true master of hype and every little technique to turn a prospect into a buyer)-you agree?

I´m not even sure whether it is possible to skip all hype when selling stuff on the internet. It seems that a lot of the techniques in use are just a reflection of how we humans work when making decisions – Cialdini is the keyword here.

You know, I am looking for a mentor to guide me along my way to be a full success on marketing information on the internet. I want this mentor to be a person who not only knows what he is talking about (walk the talk) but who also is trustworthy, a caring person, honest and a true Go Giver – someone like Rich Schefren e.g or one of his advanced students -nudge, nudge…

I want a mentor to teach and guide me how to help as many other people as possible providing and selling top notch information.

After reading your ebooks (Newbees Nightmare and Guru´s Dream)I know I have to cut and unsubscribe from most of these mailing lists and I have started to be a lot more selective.

But I am still confused, are you the real deal, Alex? I would love to “test” that out as soon as possible.

ok A.J. my wife thinks i am crazy!!! with this IM stuff. I hope you can help me and do what you say you can. I have spent 2yrs trying to crack the code. I did not have the money to pay these gurus over the years. I had a business that I had to let go because of this IM stuff (PERmywife)Spent alot of money trying to crack the code on my own. Bad idea should of found a mentor!!!! Hopefully you will be the one. I have been self employed since 2004 as it will be hard to go back to a JOB just over broke!!! I have not given up, just need to pay the bills and put some grub on the table. I will be working the IM stuff on my off hours, every waking hour untill I crack my own code.

I have found that products advertised as suitable for newbies often contain information that is too advanced. This caused information overload.
Of course we all want to learn and make progress, learning something new is often a steep learning curve.

How can you say you’re not giving hype, when you ramble on like this? Now don’t take that the wrong way, I have unsubscribed from almost every asshole guru, but I like you and and I like your style. (let me be honest about why I have been unsubscribing: cause I get sucked into the hype and then feel like a sap afterwards). But your “brand” of honesty is refreshing. I like the way you write, and your stuff had usable stuff in it.

You want to know what I am up to? I have been trying for a year to launch a membership program. I’ve spent all I can afford to spend to get butterfly marketing, video this, list building that, and I have nothing left. Now I need to bring in some dough. CPA, affiliate sales, something…but I need a friend and a partner. I will even give 50% of the biz if someone will take me the last mile. Live coaching sounds good, but what if I am at work when you do it, will I be able to listen to replays? will I be able to ask questions and get real feedback? will I get the websites and links that I need to build a list in my niche. Will I get personalized advice?
Lets hope, cause there are about 3 or 4 “gurus” right now, pitching their FREE stuff and promising to peal back the veil. So far, until I see more, I have to count you in as one of “them”. Please prove me wrong.

I finally got over the information overload because I stopped buying anything and instead decided to go back and give a great effort at following the programs (one at a time) I did buy an honest chance over the last year.

Well, zilch. A few pennies here and there but nothing substantial. I’m not looking to be a millionaire, just making a decent living with online ventures.

I look forward to your report to see if maybe this one will do something other than hype more useless information.

I am 72 years old, a citizen of Denmark but living in the Philippines on my 28th year. I mostly always read your mails and, as a matter of fact, wanted to join your last coaching program, however, for lack of funds, I couldn’t. And, maybe you think I am too old to take on anyway and, perhaps you are right. I have been trying for a couple of years to make money ob the internet, but as I don’t have a credit card and limited resources, I have failed. I realize of course that without funds nothing is easy. Should your coaching program entail spending, I would have to back out even if you would consider coaching an “not so young but alert of mind” man. Hi Alex, as always I read with interst your publications,and I cannot help but notice the amount of despondent people who leave comments about your posts. There stories are so familiar, been there done that, bought every money making program there is to buy, but the great money trains wait for no one and there speed is relentless. Notice I say trains and not train because there are many to choose from,some good some bad.
You are either on them or your not,and for most they are not.
The point I endever to make here is, do your homework and see who’s promoting which product and
what backup and promotional material they offer if any, then stick with it.

I am also from your first coaching course. I was fairly distracted at the time as my mother was dying. The few sessions I attended were outstanding. Your material is very solid and I really look forward to your communications. You have my utmost confidence and respect. I know you always steer us in the right direction. I just need to sit down, take consistent action following your advice, and just buildup the momentum.

It seems the common theme is information overload and bombardment by gurus. I an information junkie and just keep on buying stuff so that I have gigabytes and shelves of binders of guru products. What is it with all these gurus announcing retirement. If they’re not, I get dozens of calls a day from their trainers trying to sell me very expensive training programs. Maybe some of these are worth it, but somehow I fear its just additional ways to separate us from thousands that can be better spent. I ask these trainers a question; If your guru’s material is so damn good, why aren’t you spending all your time building your own business rather than working for the guru on a salary/commission basis.

It’s funny, actually, The Godfather trilogy is one of the few times in cinema history where the sequels have been as good as (and possibly better) than the first film.

Same with Guru’s Dream and Newbie’s Nightmare – they were EXCELLENT – so I know that the Guru’s Nightmare will be awesome stuff too.

Personally, I haven’t been burnt too badly online; I’ve bought some of your products which I was very happy with and paid a very reasonable price for Dean Holland’s superb coaching.

Yes, I’ve had sales calls from pushy call-centres and I’ve bought a few dodgy e-books (Rich Jerk, anyone?) but I’ve been pretty lucky on the whole.

Even so, I’m happy to be a part of the growing movement in the IM world of openness, transparency, delivering value and NOT SCAMMING!

Alex, you’ve always been at the forefront of that movement, and that’s why you deserve the success that you have achieved.

Hi Alex,

That was an excellent video. I always enjoy your work. I love your “no b.s.” style and really admire the passion you have for helping others succeed. I’ve probably learned more from you for free than some of the bottom feeder guru’s I’ve spent good money on. I hope to meet you and take one of your training courses some day soon.

I’ve experienced a ‘bleep’ load of setbacks, some of which I hope no one else has to endure. One example was a guru essentially told me I wasn’t going to make it in this business. All that does to someone like me is add even MORE fuel to the fire in the belly. Now I won’t give up until I take my last frickin breath for sure.

My biggest issue right now is time. My lazy lemming mindset day job and commute eats up a ‘another bleep’ load of my precious time and energy. It’s tough to focus and produce with IM on limited sleep and time. Plus the stress from it all doesn’t help much either. Yes don’t get me wrong I’m grateful for the job I have in this economy but why be miserable when you don’t have to.

It’s encouraging to read that some folks here are making something as opposed to my big nothing.

Hi Alex, I believe we’ve chatted before a few months back. You helped me out. Things have changed quite a bit since then and I’m now starting to FINALLY get a little traction for the first time in well over 2 years of trying to learn IM. I know have a business partner, we have a blog,(I linked to it)16 new, very highly targeted landing pages,a completely new, rewritten sales pages a small PPC campaign started, a list that has grown by almost 700 subscribers in the past few weeks, and we are starting to figure out how to see at least some sales of $30 ebook on the topic of Excel spreadsheets and “advanced user” centered info.

The problem is…..we are both full time at this, 12-15hrs a day, 5-6 days a week….THIS IS WHAT THE GURUS DON’T TALK ABOUT!!!

When you hear those occasional mentions of “having to roll up you sleeves and ACTUALLY do a little work”….Let me tell ya what home boyz…THEY ARE LEAVING A LOT OUT OF THE PICTURE.

If you are very new to all this and are not already either tech saavy or in the position to pay for saavy….the learning curve is freak’n ginormous. There has been very very times I’ve seen much good solid true step by step training on how to go create landing pages the look great and have things exactly how you want them, including grafics. Or the info on WHEN to use which “styles and approaches” in which markets. When, where and for which markets do banner ads work best, what about “banner ads vs. image ads”, when and HOW to do best on the content network side of PPC, etc.

THEY NEVER say much about how challenging it is and how much longer it WILL take you, when you really are starting out pretty broke, or you wind up broke from buying crap that does not work, and does not tell you the whole truth about just how much time, effort, focus, and personal energy can be involved.

My new business partner (who lives in Ecuador- I’m in Oregon) and I are coming from this starting point of having almost $0 money to our names, bills we can’t pay etc. etc. We know that we have nowhere to go but up, and by refusing to give up no matter what, we are finally beginning to get SOME traction. But I will tell you, it has been a huge challenge and taken many many many hours of hard work.

Have spent a lot of money on many guru’s programs, most too complicated to follow, little result. Or, “I will give your a free website”, only to learn I then have to buy domain names, hosting, advertising, and then get a clone site that thousands of others are promoting.

good-establish pain, common problem, pics of eBooks?, offer solution free if I take a simple action
annoying-too long to load, no pause button, mostly about you, not listing the benefits for prospect, vague and way too long.

In information overload, tons of programs on my computer, most either too generic or complicated for me to use effectively. All with big promises.

Same situation as Sinisa above. Need a no cost, low cost system that is simple and easy to use to put cash in my pocket. Need a step by step process, with PDF guides and videos.

Hi Alex, i have missed your past 2 coaching programs, this sounds awesome, i thought i would tell you about myself, i am a middle manager for a well known retail company and i am one of the best performers in my region, however 60 hour weeks and being stuck on the motorway is not my idea of a life! i have spent thousands joining places such as polaris media group and Mynetbiz with the promise of full online mentoring, what a load of crap, as soon as they take your money you can never get hold of anyone or it takes you ages to get replies to emails, i am useless at anything to do with computers and even tuturials with user friendly how to videos seem difficult! It appears that many people do feel “taken” and upset about the Guru’s.
They have to blame someone for not succeeding.
Now of course EVERY sales page tells us “It’s not your fault”.
…Gee, let’s get on the prospects good side, (to drop their barriers) let THEM off the hook, show some empathy because they’re stuck AND – we’ll offer the solution.

If I’m not succeeding online it’s cause I haven’t figured out what’s not working & made the change(s). This IS a business we’re building (as Filsaime always says), NOT a get rich overnight pyramid. I’m not going to blame guys who ARE successful at it. Even IF I believed they were on my side.
Before the internet, did you fall for ALL the “make money from home” junk mail you got?
This is just a “different & instant” delivery system, that’s all. There are lots of marketers who are rip off artists and lots who are wonderful & honest and sincerely want to help you have a better life.
Let’s take some personal responsibility!
I don’t blame Guru’s for all marketing each others products. There are lots of good products out there. You’re gonna hear from lots of people about the same things.
It’s our job to not fall into that “shiny new object” category – have LACK of FOCUS, thinking OH, this way looks BETTER, makes more money and sounds EVEN easier! Hmmm, load up the hard drive w/more!
It’s a job sorting through the 80 (or more) emails I get daily offering me the chance to break free and “Earn $30k or more” IN MY 1st MONTH – BUT if it sounds too good to be true…

It’s time to go through the lists we’re on and find the people who “give value” and who don’t.
If we’re NOT getting value from someone – GET OFF THE LIST! (I’m going through my 180+ now)
I’m speaking from overwhelm and frustration myself as I’ve been doing affiliate marketing for a while and still have yet to make real money, but don’t blame others, I take responsibility for it.

I also think there are different factors stopping us BUT we aren’t ALL missing the same ingredient. It could be the money (to buy THAT right missing piece), the fear, procrastination, not knowing what to promote or where to promote it, getting traffic once you’re up, a bad squeeze page or email series, and on and on…

Sure, I’d love to find works for me that will get me into momentum and great earnings, so I’m open to hearing what you have to share.

I’m sorry to admit that I am one of your coaching students who hasn’t as yet been a success in online marketing. I was initially impressed with your honesty and willingness to help the little guy be successful, and it was for this reason that I paid the “upwards of $1000″ to join your coaching program.

I have to say that I did learn a lot, from how to plan my time to the importance of having an attitude of being of help to others. I put up the list building website you gave us, and I paid someone to put my blog together. The main thing I learned from you was the importance of building a relationship with your clients. You stressed that over and over, and it’s the way I want to do business.

What was missing for me, though, was the practical how to put tab A into slot B. I needed to be shown how to put all the pieces together, how to connect them. I need to know how to choose niches, find products to promote, build landing pages, get traffic to the landing pages, etc. I’ve been trying to get that kind of information from other experts in the marketplace in the hopes that I can connect the dots.

I will take responsibility my failure to be where I had hoped to be by now, but I can tell you I am not afraid of hard work, I welcome direction and am I not afraid of being successful. I still trust that you are an honest man, and that maybe what you will share in the Gurus Nightmare will be of help to move me toward my goal.

I’ve purchased many products from many “gurus”. Almost all of them tell me how easy it is to make money online. Foolish. The only thing that makes it easy is if you work hard…very hard.

The hard work though can become simple if you can break down all the hard work into a much simpler step by step system.

What the gurus don’t tell you is that systems change over time. This change means that the steps you need to take must change also. I guess that’s the nature of “improvement”.

I can’t wait for this report. If it is anywhere near as good as the Guru’s Dream, then I think you are really pushing the boundaries of what can be given for $0.

Its truly impressive and inspiring to see this level of commitment in bringing forth valuable content without expecting anything in return. Internet marketers like you are far too few nowadays.

I hope to model my business with the same level of promise and focus.

In regards to my struggles, I found that building an internet marketing business is 80% Psychology, 15% Business Structuring/Money Management, and 5% Marketing Strategy. The problem lies in the fact that most internet marketers promote Strategy and neglect to focus on how to structure a business properly and how to maintain a business oriented mindset. Yet they still manage to make lots of money selling money making strategies and systems. This is because they understand that people are only going to buy what they WANT not what they NEED. So, obviously its much easier to hype up the stuff that people want rather than what they need. Lets face it, it produces more money.

However, I believe that you Alex and all of these wonderful people that commented on this blog post, fully understand that as internet marketers, we must be smarter.

Knowing what people want is only half the battle. The KEY lies in developing a method of teaching and supplying people with what they need AFTER delivering on the promise of giving what they want.

For example, people WANT to make money, the want to make it fast, they want a hands free system, they want the lazy way of making money, they want to work only 4 hours a week. Therefore they will search actively for those things. But they will never search actively for business structuring courses, business building fundamentals, how to think like a business owner, or business management methods/tools/resources. This is because it is something that they NEED and its usually very tedious and boring to read and study.

In conclusion, as internet marketers we must be smart and develop unique and clever ways of giving people what they need while disguising it as something that they want. This is the challenge that we will all face for years to come. It will not be easy. But I feel that you, Alex, are a great example of someone that is overcoming this challenge by giving people what they NEED for free and still managing to present it as something they we would want.

Where to start?

I have been on the periphery of online internet marketing for many years because I simply never believed that what so many different gurus were telling me were the ‘can’t fail, never seen before’, secrets of making money on line were anything of the sort.

It got to the stage where I believed nobody. In the past year Kevin Riley has restored some of my faith and has given me some good pointers but my health and general inability to apply myself effectively have been major obstacles.

The massive relaunches of eBooks that I bought five years ago that happen on an almost weekly basis simply highlight the contempt in which the gurus hold us. Now they are even teaching us to re-write those re-written eBooks and sell them all over again as a brand new product!

Commerce has not changed over the last several thousand years but the bloody gurus keep trying to re-invent it.

All I and all the newbies like me want is a simple, no nonsense way to make a start. All this advanced crap that requires that we learn to be a world class marathon runner before we can actually walk to the start line is, I am sure, designed to put us off and convince us that we need to buy ‘one more item’.

The real problem is, when we struggle, when we are fairly sure we are being fed a line, the line is so pursuasive that we stop what we were doing and go off at a tangent! We have been programmed to fail to see the truth.

Gurus this and Gurus that I am sick of them and the bitterest pill to swallow for me is all the bollocks they feed you about how easy it will be and that you only have to work 10mins a day to make tons of cash!!

O.k so I didn’t swallow all of it, sure it is not going to be easy but for me it was definitely the biggest reason why I ran round in circles because every time it became a little tough I would quit and move to the next project.

Well this sounds like manna from heaven. I have spent a number of years learning bits and pieces from just about everyone. Learning the technical details (HTML, writing good copy, etc.) is not the hard part at all. Finding the right mentor who will teach and not hold anything back is the tricky part. This is kinda ironic but I am just uploading pages to my site through your coaching program during which I took a break and checked my email and found this.

I do not want to get distracted and not complete what I’m doing again to try something else. I am actually making progress for once, however, this information needs to be out there.

I have had this exact dream for “someday” when I figure everything out. So I think it is a noble and ethical goal and vision you have.
You are not the first marketer to come up with this idea, but you are the first one I think will do it!

I am going to drop a few names of people I have purchased “reports” or “courses” from over the last few years, I hope it’s OK.
Frank Kern, Ed Dale, Joshua Shaffrin, Kevin Wilke, Matt Gill, Jon Carlton, Euwen Chia, The Faster Webmaster, Jon Jonas, John Reese, Mark Joyner, Bob Proctor, Jack Zufelt, and even The Rich Jerk… There are so many more that I can’t even come close to remembering them all. (and I wonder how the Gurus make so much money :) )

Now I’m not saying all these people are bad and I’m not saying all their stuff is bad because it’s not. But they never really give you what you need to actually become their competition…I’m not sure I blame them…having said that, I would not be selling marketing stuff if I had that mindset!

I have bought so much info. that my wife and friends think deep down that there is something wrong with me. I call it perseverance. I persevere because I know what I want and I know I can have it. Success for me just has not been easy in the least.

So hell yah, I say you tell it like it is and make it clear so people like me can get past all the technical CRAP, and the marketing genius that very few people ever really get, and can see a clear path on how to move forward.
I look forward to it, and I have been impressed so far with your coaching ability.

Wow, what a great video man!!! My story in short, I have been struggling to get online for a few years now with next to no success. I have been burned so many times with so called “Life Changing Offers” from Guru’s, I have parted with my money time and time again and got no where. I must of spent thousands and seen very little return.

I must admit that before I watched this video, I was at the point of giving up on it all. You have inspired me to carry on Alex and any help you can give me to carry on will be greatly taken on board.

Most so called “Gurus” out there, if they are not Fake, have one thing in common…they are all very good in selling. Yet not many will deliver what they “seems to promise”. Or is it?

The sad truth is, most of the “gurus” do have legitimate business. Just that they like to hype up their sales messages because some how hype seem to works better. However, the “gurus” maybe taking the advantage of the internet to sell their over promised ,under delivered products. But now as the end-user, we too, can use the power to avoid loosing our money simply by having the patience to “hold on” a little more and check out reviews from other users or “victims” if any.

Like anyone else, I was sucked into their “hypes” because I am desperate. But after years of trying , There is One Most Valuable Lesson I learned….

“Never ever make any Important Decision when you are tired, hungry, in deperations or being pushed or urged from the outside, no matter how tempting the offer may be. ”

When I made my decision to be Alex Coaching Student, I did not feel the usual urge or deperation in me, there was no usual “forced sense of excitement” if you know what I mean. But rather, it is made with a sense of peace and serenity, is as natural as breathing.

I am so glad that I am one of your 2.1 coaching student. I had done and progress more in the pass 3 months than what I did in the pass 2 years.

If this could be true, then I have seen the type of person I have been looking for online since .

Though, some have seems to be good among those so called gurus (I don’t even know which one to call guru among them) but I am yet sure if they are really sincere to help. There are just very few of them that I like so much and at times I wish I could be with them but no opportunity.

Alex, your name may never be forgotten on the Internet for ever if what I heard from your video lecture is true because you would have created an exceptional and ever continuing traces on making money online on the Internet.

If you are really sincere with it – not like others who are always only after our money but not ready to assist us in reality at all to even just be making 0.5% of the money they claim here and there (if at all they are making them in truth)- then you are the one I have been searching for online since.

Can you imagine, I had been spending my life online to make money, not less than 18 hours a day on my computer, buying this and that material(despite being highly poor financially) after reading this and that magical words guaranteeing me of making money online; yet nothing to show for them….Don’t let me write too much here alex, may be I will have to send mail to you in confidence so that I can reveal in detail because I have been seriously burnt and now really in serious debts………

I have been online for some time now but find that almost everyone including so called Guru’s, never tell you how to do anything they promote and if they include instructional videos, these are usually very short and skim over what needs to be done.All very vague and unhelpful.

As a result nothing is achieved and we are all back to square 1.. Many so called courses are far too expensive.

Hi Big Al, yes of course we are interested in your latest monster creation. We’d be insane not to listen to your teachings.
But everyone talks about the gurus & their games but nobody actually names them. Are you going to put your balls on the line & name&shame them?(the ones who deserve to be). Of course they are not all bad in fact I think most are very good & clever at what they do.
The problem us mere mortals have always faced is pure gigantic overload of info. & trying to stay focused on one task at a time to try to progress.
Once you’ve made a fair amount of money & can afford to hire help etc. your away, but until that time it’s a constant daily struggle. Nobody seems to design their super systems around a persons faimly & work demands etc. I think even you Alex were able to start a IM business because you had a successful ebay business running that gave you the freedom to do so. I know you still had to get the ebay bus. of the ground first but that must of been a lot eaiser than selling info. online. Sorry for the ramble, just tell us how to get started & stay ultra focused.
The latest distraction seems to be a hundred ways on how to generate traffic(obviously very important) but who’s method or methods do we follow/trust?? —HEELLP!!

Hi Alex,

Over the past four years, I have actually put a lot of methods to the test, and after royally screwing up most of them before getting them (almost) right, I found that quite a few techniques sort of work…

…but nothing worth bragging about. I almost have my debt paid off (yes- I learned some very expensive lessons).

A helping hand would be nice to have.

All too often there’s an admission price that most beginners can’t afford (obviously, they haven’t made anything yet). It’s hard for me to grasp how cash on hand determines a person’s aptitude.

That, in turn, begs the question of whether any confidence is held by the “coach” in their own ability to teach. When the student succeeds, paying off the course shouldn’t pose a problem.

Things like that always made me wonder.

The other big issue was when they would tell you WHAT to do- but leave out HOW…

Guru: “You need to set up a good email campaign that keeps your subscribers actively engaged, and gains their trust.”

Me: “Right. Email campaign. Let’s set that up.

It doesn’t say how in the material. How do I do that again? Oh yeah- videos can’t answer questions. Ebooks either.

Maybe if I can figure this out myself, I’ll be able to make that $2,000- then I can ask a real person. But by then, why would I even need to ask what I already know?”

Or little snags, like a social bookmarking “trick” that involves proxy servers and multiple accounts…

…obviously that “guru” has never tried registering while using a proxy server.

Sounds great in theory, but I still really wonder how they got past the captcha.

Things like that. It’s the small details that get left out- which happen to be the ones that determine whether that approach actually works. Coincidence?

I can’t determine if it is on purpose or if it’s just an oversight, but it is entirely too common.

So… Yeah. I’d like two shots of coaching and an ebook on the side, please. I can always use some help.

The late Corey Rudl once said that business is hard work.

So why do you want to do it?

If we do not have a good and strong why, we will give up easily.

Hi Alex,

I am not familiar with your courses but your video makes sense and I believe you sincerely want to help, which isn’t always the case.
After deciding to build an online business, I found a lot of help in the Warrior forum and lots of free stuff everywhere (always some useful bit of information) but mostly I have a problem with conflicting data and how to deal with the famous “information overload”. After eliminating the gurus who mostly want to sell you expensive stuff, there are still a lot of internet marketers left, from rather successful to extremely successful, all eager to help and each having different viewpoints on things. Something that works for one might not work for another person.

Studying all that information is very time consuming (add to that English isn’t my first language and computer talk wasn’t my favorite activity, and you have defined hell!)

How to decide what’s best and what will work when you don’t have all the knowledge and zero experience?

I am extremely willing to take action and work very hard. I have business knowledge, having been very successful at offline businesses in the past. But understanding precedes action. If you don’t know where to go and if you don’t understand how to get where you might want to go, how can you get somewhere????

Alex, I could hear the sincerity in your voice – I believe you ARE sick of all the nonsense & false promises & you DO want to expose the truth to those who continue to struggle – you are a breath of fresh air, being prepared to risk turning some of the “gurus” against you in the pursuit of integrity.

I too lost thousands of $$ believing the hype initially & I am angry about that, because I was trying to supplement my single pension, with my husband now in a Nursing Home. Instead I found myself in a WORSE financial situation!!

I finally came upon MLMLeadSystemPro who have taught me a lot of techniques & strategies related to the marketing process, but I am still not earning much money.

I was banned by Google while trying to learn ppc adwords last year, however I advertise regularly, mainly by email, but find that few people actually buy!

I joined your last coaching program intially, but, being 71, I found the technical aspects too daunting. I don’t WANT to learn tech. stuff at my age, but can’t really afford to outsource & wouldn’t know who to ask anyway. So that leaves me in a bind! But I keep on keeping on…

If you can throw some light on how to attract people who will buy, that would be extremely helpful – I certainly appreciate your willingness
to “give back” for free – you obviously DO understand the financial limitations of those in the early stages of marketing.

I know quite a few students who have learned from you and love what you teach. I am really interested in your reports. I have not read them yet. I have been a students of John Thornhill’s for the last 18 months. I have learned heaps however I am still only earning pocket money that is basically paying for my hosting.

I am a stay at home mum trying to learn how to create a business online for my family. I am often the sole provider and I do not want to be on welfare for the rest of my life! I want a future for my daughter. I want to be able to buy a house and a car one day. I don’t even own a car!

This industry is my future for my daughter. I want my daughter to be proud of me. I am ready to learn more!

Thank you for offering this training for free! Since my daughter was 6 weeks old, (she is nearly 3) I have been trying to learn how to create a business online. I have added up how much I have spent on the so called Guru’s and I have wasted nearly $5,000! The only coaching that was not a waste is John’s and Ed Dale’s. Every other product I have bought or tried to learn from has just taken my money and run! I really despise the Guru’s and boy could I name a few of them arrogant #$%^&*(. They are not out there to really help you. They just want your money like a sleezy car salesman! And when you are trying to raise a child, loosing that amount of money that should have been food on my table is not nice!! And I am being polite!

Now let me ask you Alex. Are you just like the other guru’s. Hmmmmmmm? Is this your way of leading us in to then promote the high ticket item and take more money we really can’t afford to pay out. Or are you actually genuine and you really are going to give back and really help the little people?

Hi Alex, great stuff mate. I have a small group of people who i subscribe to that i really can trust to look after my best interests & you Alex are one of them.
One thing that really pees me off is when i receive an email off one of these so called gurus obviously doing their mate a favour by sending me a crap report with an opt in form.
I have learnt a lot over the last two years but still keep hitting stumbling blocks, a lot is down to information over load trying to do too many things all at once.
Hopefully things will all fall into place one day & maybe with your guidance Alex it will be sooner rather than later.

Hi Alex,

I’m a little nervous about leaving this message as I promised myself I would be real.

Financially I’m on my arse confidence wise not a great deal higher. To cut a long storey short at the end of last year my website building company went under.

Having run the company for 5 years I have experience in some of the technology (though had tech guys to do this for me) and have an significant awareness of marketing and some on-line stuffs.

However, it has become clear that I have been missing something, it was never hugely profitable and ended up costing me a lot of money when it was closed.

I now have nothing left apart from my brain and motivation to look after my young family.

I have looked into the on-line marketing world and been sceptical about some of the claims made.

However, I’ve liked your stance on the business and the fact that you have had recent success makes me believe that you can empathise with my position.

I don’t currently have a great idea for a business going forward other than perhaps to provide people with an opportunity of watching a brand new person (not even a newbie, this is my very first post on the topic, I don’t even have a site to drive any interested traffic to) become a success on-line warts and all.

What do you think?

P.S. I understand that the medium term success of this plan will rely on me and my business accelerating at an interesting and intriguing pace to making a living on-line. I do not intend to linger long in any nightmare as I hoping I can get out of this current one. Hope you can help.

Hi Alex, I believe in the saying that it is never too late and you are never too old. Well here I am, 70 years old and still fighting on after two heart attacks. I had a good life and then my comkpany failed due to the awful banks. I intend to start again and after spending a substantial amount of money buyings and listening to the so called experts and GURUS???? I am no further making money on the internet as when I first decided to do business on the internet. It seems to me that the GURUS are only interested in continually selling you more and more info they say is not available anywhere else but only from them and provided you buy their BS you will make money. I have found that not all but most of what is being offered is just hype. I have listened to your video and for once I heard someone who was straight talking and sounded sincere in what he was offering, which was HOPE and success. Well done and thank you for your honesty. I will wait to hear from you and look forward to being educated and guided by you. Perhaps you can tell me where I can obtain your books, GURU’S Dream, Newbies Nightmare and GURU’s Nightmare. I have been at this internet marketing stuff for about a year and buy all the products and try what they teach with minimal results. Out of frustration, I feel my desire to keep plugging away at this internet marketing stuff quickly disappearing. I am very interested in checking out the Guru’s Nightmare. The ‘head in the bed’ phrase is a very nice touch.

A practical suggestion I have for you is to make the “Leave a Reply” section which I am typing in right now to be more obvious to the user that might not be as savvy a social media(tor) as your average user. I am very new to social media interactions and it took me some clicking around to find this opportunity to leave a reply. Less determined people might retreat and miss out on your valuable information.

If you have any suggestions for a clear and sequential introduction to actually using this new fangled concept of ‘Social Media’ I would love to know. I have Gary V’s “Crush It” and “Inbound Marketing” and both are excellent books but they do not crack the nut of a ‘soft landing’ to this ever changing new world that we are calling ‘Social Media’.

This video that provoked my writing this commentary is one of the most excellent examples of Social Media. People love to express themselves once they get over the hump of inertia.

All I am looking for is to avoid some of the larger obstacles to succeed very moderately in online marketing.

The more I read through your blog posts the more I come to realise that despite my driving motivation and determination I am no different to every one else who has yet to make money online.

So much so that I have now decided that despite spending years of my life learning and trying to implement what experienced marketers ( Okay the gurus! ) say to do, I have become more experienced at excepting failure than success.

With out even realising it, I have alsmost allowed myself to believe that I will never make money on line – and that has not been through lack of trying.

My attempts to become a success online have not been fueled by an immediate need for cash. I have a secure job. For me it goes far deeper. The need to work for myself, to provide for my family through my own achievments. The idea that my own motivation and drive could provide my family and I with a lifestyle I could only ever dream about.

I have been trying to harness the power of the internet since 2000 and despite experiencing more failures than I care to remember, something still pushes me to keep trying and achieving ( sorry never have been very good at spelling! )

So I wanted to write to you in the hope that if ever the situation arises, I would love to be considered for your coaching program as your words provide me with more clear motivation than spoken by any other marketer I have listened to before.

I now understand that you must market to your prospects and not sell to them. Plus you need to have a campaign set up before you even start to market to them. Thanks for the video and the insight into the wool being pulled over so many people’s eyes. I am…scratch that…WAS one of those people…hopping on to every early bird guru list to pay out the nose what was coming out of their asses.

Not that all of it was horse shit though…it just wasn’t the whole picture and what I needed to actually build a successful business. Plus the fact that after not seeing the microwave results as promised, I felt frustrated and looked for another silver bullet to relieve my anxiety of a growing credit card build and guilt of not taking consistent and persistent action.

I am writing to say-Finally. You are so so right.I have tons of material on my computer. How to do this and how to do that.

I am doing a how to program on how to do affiliate marketing. Then I was going to learn how to build my own website.

This morning I am listening to an internet guru video saying that affiliate marketing programs are not the way to go.

Arggggh.

Then last week. I signed up for two other sites. “Promote this and you will make money.” I had three domain names. When I transferred my domain names over to hostgator from go daddy. I open the sites. I now have two opt in sites. So now I have to go into my affiliate program to see how to set these up.

I find this very frustratiing. I am trying so hard to stay focused on one thing at a time, and I am being sent all over.

I would really like to see a program where everything is included but everything is done step by step videos showing you how)- whether you want to work in affiliate programs (which I think is great for getting your feet wet), and setting up a web site, and then how to promote your programs.

Also, not have someone tell me that I can be making money in 24 hours. It is imposible since you have to wait 24 to 72 hours for your transfer from go daddy to hostgator to be effective.I hate being lied to.

I truly believe people come into your life for a reason, some for a season, and some to hold your hand until you are able to walk alone.I am sincerly hoping you will hold my hand until I am able to walk alone.

Now, I try not to get distracted by the overload of info and emails I get daily after looking at that site. If someone doesn’t have a good rating, I don’t read their stuff. I have spent many thousands on IM and coaching courses for the past 3 yrs and and still feel like a beginner. One $5000 course I bought from a guru because he said the first “so many” he would email our offer to his list of 500,000. NOT! I am a 61 yr old non-techie woman who needs basic info on exactly how to make money on the internet, step by step. I need to learn in language a first grader would understand.

I’m looking forward to any help you can offer.

Frankly, I hadn’t hear of you before since I got today a mail with a link to your site.
The video I listened to seems all about having success. It seems you have plenty success.
I downloaded your report ‘Guru’s Nightmare’ and will read it asap.
I don’t know what it is all about, but to my knowledge on Guru’s [I mean a real GURU] not
Internet proclaimed Guru’s, they have a dreamless sleep, they do not have nightmare’s.
So the title of your book seems a contradiction…………

I once met such a real mind-blowing Guru, not an Internet Guru I suppose your book and
you are talking about, a Real Guru is not one who wants to become……… but just IS.

I am a teenager about to 18 in a few months. i was first introduced to internet marketing about a yr n some months ago. I have been sucked up in hype an have tried a couple differant ways to make money online. I have resently struggle in the last week to try to scrap up the money needed to join your coaching program this week and because you broke it up into payment (i had just enough in my bank account) i was able to get a spot in MWA 3.0. I pray that its as life changing as you say and before monday i plan on reading all three of your report in order this time lol to mentally prepare myself for yor teaching. My story ?

Still a “work in progress” despite being 10 years in the preparation stage and picking up bits and pieces from the Guru”s and spending a fair bit of cash for the priviledge :-)

I don’t blame the guru’s personally as they prsent the pitch and I bought into it … many times over so that’s my decision.

What I am bored with now is the type of pitch that starts with an enticing offer ‘at only $xx and then when clicked out it comes back with another $10 off as a special offer … that tactic just now makes me mad as hell ! Even had one recently that kicked of at $67 and I just kept clicking out until it finally stopped at $17 !

Then there’s the others that follow the upsell/downsell route after the sucker low price start and I f****ing hate those … they just leave you feeling cheated before you’ve even got to read what you paid for on the front end :-)

Now there are certain guru emails I don’t even bother opening anymore because you just know what style and offer type is going to follow so something has gotta give ?

Will be interesting to see what comes of your new report although not sure I’ll get it as I clicked on the ‘Newbies Nightmare download free report’ link I found and just got a ‘sorry sold out page’ … what’s all that about Alex ?

I have also gotten pretty tired of watching promotional videos for 1-1.5 hours each time, only to have them end before actually showing what they promised, and of course the end is a big sales pitch for another very expensive report or product.
